FROM THE PRINCIPAL
PRESENTATION DAY
Thank you to those parents, friends and family members who attended our Presentation Day last Thursday. From all reports, there were many parents and relatives there to share the occasion with our students. Congratulations to all students who received an award. Thank you to all teachers who presented citations and in particular the considerable behind the scenes work of Mrs Watson, Mrs McNamara and Mrs Parkes in organising the presentation and Miss Croker as Master of Ceremonies.
YEAR 6 FAREWELL/DISCO AND GRADUATION ASSEMBLY
Congratulations to our Year 5 students who organised a wonderful Year 6 Farewell last Monday night. The care and enthusiasm that went into making it a very special night for these boys and girls was clear. Congratulations to our outgoing Year 6 students, you have been a wonderful group and we wish you every success in your high school years.
I would like to acknowledge the following people for their contribution to the events occurring throughout the past fortnight:
- For the Farewell Dinner and Disco, many thanks to Mrs Pulbrook Miss Croker, Mrs McLennan, Mrs Elliot, Mrs Langfield, Mrs McNabb, Mrs Grelli, Mrs Riley, Mrs Corby and Ms Iskric.
- Thank you to Mrs Watson and Mrs Parkes for their organisation in the office and Mrs McNamara for her work in collating and creating the Yr 6 Graduation Booklet. Thank you also to Mrs Roxburgh and Ms Wills for the donation of Year 6 Autograph Books.
TERM 1 SWIMMING TRIALS
An advanced save-the-date for our School Swimming Trials which will be held on Monday, 10th February. The trials will be for all students turning 8 (in 2025) and up who can swim at least one lap of the 50m pool. Further information will be distributed via email/School Bytes on our return to school next year.
2025 CLASS STRUCTURES AND STAFF
Staff roles and class structures are set for 2025 (barring any unforeseen circumstances). We will establish 11 classes to commence the year. Below is some extra information about staff changes for 2025 as well as a table of roles across the school:
- Sadly, we say farewell to Mrs Maley next year as she returns to working in the travel industry. Mrs Maley has been a great asset to our school, working with many students and across a variety of classrooms. I would like to thank Mrs Maley sincerely for her hard work and commitment to the school throughout the last 5 years.
- Thank you also to Mrs Simons, Miss Hobby and Mrs Riley who have worked in the school during Term 4 and beyond. We hope to see you both back in 2025.
- We officially welcome Miss Reilly onto our staff team in 2025. Miss Reilly successfully gained her permanency at OEPS, three days per week commencing next year.
- I would like to extend a belated welcome to Miss Azzopardi who commenced as OEPS Counsellor in the latter part of this year. I would also like to thank Mrs Bouffler for her wonderful service to the school. Mrs Bouffler successfully applied for the position of Senior Psychologist, commencing earlier this year.

SCHOOL FINISH AND RESTART DATES
- The last day of school for students this year is Wednesday, 18th December.
- ALL Students (K-6) return to school on Thursday, 6th February February 2025.
Lastly, I would like to thank all parents, caregivers, extended family and the wider community. It is our great pleasure to work with your children every day. Thank you for the ongoing support of our school throughout 2024. I wish all parents and caregivers a safe and happy Christmas and best wishes for a prosperous new year.

END-OF-YEAR EVENT INFORMATION
Reports
- Full Semester Two Reports will be sent out to parents in Week 10, Monday 16th December.
- As per normal, we do not hold formal parent/teacher interviews in Semester Two. A parent/teacher interview can be arranged by request either by contacting the office or your child’s class teacher.
Year 6 Graduation Assembly
- On Wednesday, 18th December we invite parents/ family members of Year 6 students to join us at 2:15pm in the School Hall for a special Year 6 Graduation Assembly. The assembly will only be attended by Year 6 students and family as well as Stage 3 Staff.
- During the assembly there will be an audio-visual presentation prepared by Stage 3 staff and students will be presented with their Yr 6 Certificate and Class of 2024 Book.
- Due to the audio-visual presentation we need to use the School Hall, therefore we are limited by space constraints, only able to offer seats for TWO family members of each Year 6 student. We understand that some families may have special circumstances where you may wish to bring more than two family members. While we cannot guarantee additional seats for the assembly, please contact Miss Croker via email (alison.croker@det.nsw.edu.au) to request additional seats and we will attempt to accommodate this where possible.
- At the conclusion of the assembly (approximately 3pm) all students K-5 and staff will form our traditional tunnel stretching from the hall out onto the playground for the Year 6 Class of 2024 to run through.
LAST DAY/FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL
The last day of school for students this year is Wednesday, 18th December.
ALL students in Years K-6 return on Thursday, 6th February.

P&C MEETINGS 2025
Term 1 Meetings
- Week 3 - Tuesday, 11th February @ 6:30pm
- Week 8 - Tuesday, 18th March @ 6:30pm
Meetings are held between 6:30 - 7:30pm in the Staffroom with access from the Spring Street entrance (see map below). Meeting length is strictly limited to one hour or less if possible! New members are warmly welcomed. Do not hesitate to contact the school office if you would like further information.

We love parent involvement at Orange East. You can volunteer in the classroom, working bees, help cook at BBQ's, share your professional or special interest skills, join a committee and more.
